La neuropsychologie chez l'ENFANT et l'ADOLESCENT :

La principale raison qui peut amener une famille à venir consulter un neuropsychologue est la question des difficultés scolaires.
Pourquoi mon enfant a des difficultés ? Pourquoi n'arrive t-il pas à se concentrer ?
Est-ce qu'il le fait exprès ? Comment faire pour l'aider à apprendre ?
Est-ce que ses capacités intellectuelles sont efficientes ?

L'évaluation neuropsychologique va donc permettre de répondre à ces questions en évaluant l'efficience intellectuelle et le fonctionnement cognitif (mémoire, attention, langage, fonctions exécutives, fonctions visuo-spatiales) de l'enfant à l'aide de tests standardisés. Le neuropsychologue pourra ainsi identifier s'il y a une atteinte d'une ou plusieurs fonctions cognitives.

Les difficultés scolaires peuvent être liées à un trouble des apprentissages (dyslexie, dyscalculie, dysphasie, dyspraxie, troubles de l'attention et/ou de l'hyperactivité etc.), une fragilité psycho-affective (troubles anxieux, faible estime de soi etc.), un manque de motivation, un niveau d'efficience intellectuelle limité etc. Il est important d'évaluer les capacités de l'élève le plus tôt possible afin de mieux comprendre ses difficultés et proposer une prise en charge adaptée.

La neuropsychologie chez l'ADULTE :

Dans notre société, le nombre de personnes âgées ne cessent de croître. Avec l'âge, nos fonctions cognitives déclinent et ce de manière normale.

En revanche, de nombreuses pathologies entraînent des troubles des fonctions cognitives, notamment les pathologies:
> neurodégénératives (Alzheimer, Parkinson etc.)
> neurologiques (AVC, traumatisme crânien etc.)
> psychiatriques (troubles bipolaires, dépression....).

Ces troubles cognitifs et comportementaux peuvent générer d'importantes difficultés dans la vie quotidienne de la personne.

Dans le cas des pathologies neurodégénératives, les premiers signes cliniques qui apparaissent sont les troubles de la mémoire et du langage. C'est pourquoi une évaluation neuropsychologique apparaît pertinente. Celle-ci va permettre de différencier un vieillissement normal d'un vieillissement pathologique, d'aider au diagnostic et d'optimiser la prise en charge du patient.

La neuropsychologie chez l'ENFANT et l'ADOLESCENT :

La principale raison qui peut amener une famille à venir consulter un neuropsychologue est la question des difficultés scolaires.
Pourquoi mon enfant a des difficultés ? Pourquoi n'arrive t-il pas à se concentrer ?
Est-ce qu'il le fait exprès ? Comment faire pour l'aider à apprendre ?
Est-ce que ses capacités intellectuelles sont efficientes ?

L'évaluation neuropsychologique va donc permettre de répondre à ces questions en évaluant l'efficience intellectuelle et le fonctionnement cognitif (mémoire, attention, langage, fonctions exécutives, fonctions visuo-spatiales) de l'enfant à l'aide de tests standardisés. Le neuropsychologue pourra ainsi identifier s'il y a une atteinte d'une ou plusieurs fonctions cognitives.

Les difficultés scolaires peuvent être liées à un trouble des apprentissages (dyslexie, dyscalculie, dysphasie, dyspraxie, troubles de l'attention et/ou de l'hyperactivité etc.), une fragilité psycho-affective (troubles anxieux, faible estime de soi etc.), un manque de motivation, un niveau d'efficience intellectuelle limité etc. Il est important d'évaluer les capacités de l'élève le plus tôt possible afin de mieux comprendre ses difficultés et proposer une prise en charge adaptée.

La neuropsychologie chez l'ADULTE :

Dans notre société, le nombre de personnes âgées ne cessent de croître. Avec l'âge, nos fonctions cognitives déclinent et ce de manière normale.

En revanche, de nombreuses pathologies entraînent des troubles des fonctions cognitives, notamment les pathologies:
> neurodégénératives (Alzheimer, Parkinson etc.)
> neurologiques (AVC, traumatisme crânien etc.)
> psychiatriques (troubles bipolaires, dépression....).

Ces troubles cognitifs et comportementaux peuvent générer d'importantes difficultés dans la vie quotidienne de la personne.

Dans le cas des pathologies neurodégénératives, les premiers signes cliniques qui apparaissent sont les troubles de la mémoire et du langage. C'est pourquoi une évaluation neuropsychologique apparaît pertinente. Celle-ci va permettre de différencier un vieillissement normal d'un vieillissement pathologique, d'aider au diagnostic et d'optimiser la prise en charge du patient.
